We brought home Paddy, our new fox red labrador yesterday and want to get started on socialising him. When we go out and about in the next couple of weeks before he is fully covered by vaccinations how do I let him have a wee when I can't put him down. Should we just do this before leaving home and get back home before he is likely to need to wee again? Currently wee-ing around once an hour (he is 8 weeks).
Hi and welcome to you and Paddy ! Many owners carry their pups in a sort of baby sling ( they can get heavy ! ) until they are safe to be on the ground , so you`re right to take this precaution . Pups tire very easily, even when they aren't walking , so I would think encourage Paddy to have a wee in the garden before you take him out, he should then be fine for an hour or so , he will be so engrossed in viewing the big wide world , that he probably wont think about needing another wee ! If I was going to be out for quite a while I used to take some newspaper incase. He never needed it though

We have had a great day with him today introducing him to our ducks and my parent's 5 year old labrador who is currently on his holidays at our house......that has turned out to be a blessing as Paddy enjoyed the company of another dog on his first night away from his litter (I can't say the same for 5 year old Brodie...I think he prefers the quiet life ).
