i thought it might be fun to think if you and your dog have similar personalities or very different. My OH is convinced that me and the Pig are basically the same person! Is there anyone who is a shy, retiring person who ended up with the most sociable extroverted dog, or vice versa? Does your dog like to approach cautiously and think things through, whereas you like to leap in spontaneously? Do you think your personality traits rubbed off on your dog as you raised it, or did your dog change yours? I'm curious to know whether anxious people raise anxious dogs, or whether the sheer persistent joyfulness of an exuberant dog might change someone's anxious outlook on life...or, perhaps there is absolutely no correlation, apart from 'both liking eating and naps'!
Nice idea ! Sam is very serious , quite solemn , I`m not ! Sam loves food , so do I ! He loves all people , I don't ! He loves the woodlands , so do I He generally does as he is asked , not me ! He is relaxed and laid back , I am He loves his bed , so do I ( my bed, not his ! ) Sam loves all the family being together , me too He adores the sea , me too but I prefer watching it to being in it !
Me & Coco are poles apart. He is gregarious and outgoing - loves to meet other dogs and people and I am very shy & retiring, I tend to avoid people as much as possible (though I do have a job with the public - this forces me to connect!). We do have some similarities - he is perpetually happy, as am I. We both love being outside. He doesn't like getting up in the morning....I could do with a bit of a lie in.. They do say opposites attract
After finding out that Pongo gets quite stressed in kennels, we have decided that he is basically just like us - he likes his home comforts, prefers to be with a small group of friends rather than at big parties, enjoys a quiet life and generally wants to live and let live. He is definitely "his own dog" and will do what he chooses to do rather than what other people think he should do. That's probably quite like us too. He likes watching the racing channel on telly, but isn't particularly keen on Dr Who. So that makes him more like Paul than like me. But he enjoys an afternoon nap. Which is me. I have a feeling that we have created our dog in our own image. Poor boy.
This is a good one! Got me thinking. Bear in mind that Cass is in the first flush of youth and I am not Cassie is stunningly beautiful --- well, you know, I've had my day She loves warmth and comfort, so do I, She is bright, I'm rather dull She loves to interact with people, I'm not bad at it and like a chat Loves to be outside, so do I Learns quickly, I don't any more Can get overwrought, I don't Has a little rebellious and stubborn streak -- me too Drinks cold tea, I like mine hot. Looks like she's doing a fair job of being her own dog, with enough similarities to understand each other.
Me and Stanley are similar. We both love food and naps. Demand a large amount of attention and don't really enjoy exercise. We're happiest cuddled up on the couch where it's warm watching TV. We both also enjoy a good party and love sunbathing.
Ooh, i like this question. I would love to be like Jess, she's a delight (most of the time). I'm a bit anxious and over-thinking, so I do wonder if I've influenced those traits in Jess somehow. Otherwise: she's super-friendly (I'm probably a bit aloof), loves her comforts (so do I), is a picky eater (so am I), loves being out in the country but not that keen on traffic and crowds (ditto). Um.... she's also getting pretty lazy, which may well be my influence
This is such a fun thread. Mabel is incredibly beautiful, I'm okay after a facial and full spa day. A bit of a diva and if she doesn't particularly care for someone will ignore them. That's me. If she loves someone then she really really does and so do I. Loves eating sheep poo, yuk that's really not me. Enjoys going to cafés and nice little clothes shops, that is definitely me. Loves a lie in. That is definitely me. Enjoys new places, yep me again. Loves training classes and takes class clown to a new level. Not me at all.
My three pups are all very different. I would say I am most like Willow in most ways. We like our sleep, not so great in the mornings. Like our own space and we're both "thinkers". I'm like Shadow in that I like to cuddle. When I'm drunk, though, I'm all Luna
OK, being serious: We both love long country walks in all weather. She's able to relax and do nothing, I'm always on the go. She eats anything, I'm a bit more choosy! She loves people, I'm a bit quieter. She lives for the moment, I plan ahead. We both like enjoy others' company and playing together. She hates having her routine disturbed, I enjoy a bit of change.
That's us for sure, first me then Oban. We like to DO the same things, like ski and hike. Neither of us can take the heat and both of us have collapsed and seized due to heat. IN dog to human age charts right now we are the same age.
Fred likes cuddles and so do I We both like walking in the rain. Annie likes her food and so do I Annie loves Fred and I do too
Plum is an early riser, as am I. She loves to snuggle; I don't normally but I do love snuggling with her. She loves food, so do I. I like my own space, Plum likes to invade it! She's young, lithe and agile; I'm old, overweight and arthritic (but she keeps me young). I'm outgoing, she's a bit reserved. She's generally polite and very sweet, I'm mostly polite and, well, not sweet.
I'm having such a chuckle at the replies! I think Molly and I are quite alike. We're both quite reserved with strangers but very loyal to friends. We both like cuddles but also our own space - Molly likes to be with us for most of the day but then has what my OH calls her 'me time' in the evening, when she takes herself off to sit in the garden for about an hour, and I quite like some time alone too. We both like our food and eat too much! Big difference-I love swimming but Molly sinks!
