I hope Kate doesn't mind me sharing this photo she took of me being "cuddled" by her Cat of Unusual Size. Please note how Remy looks to be nearly the same size as 33 kg Bramble next to me. That is NOT an optical illusion. By the way, I got to Beanwood a bit early, thinking I'd sit in the car and have a bit of a nap. Shortly after parking the car, I hear "merrooooow, merroooo!" from just outside. "Oh, poor kitty," I think, then look down and see this terrifying cross of house cat and lion starting up at me. Being a fan of Kate's photos, I recognised Remy for his magnificent tail, which rivals Benson's. I have a pretty checkered history with cats (I usually try to treat them like dogs and they usually school me on that silliness by biting me), so seeing as how I had a salmon sandwich with me, I thought I'd share it with Remy to get him on my good side. This apparently worked a little too well, as he proceeded to jump into the car, sit his not-insignificant bulk on my lap, and then oh-so-slowly knead the delicate area perilously close to my girly bits with his very large and very sharp claws. Yowsa! That evening he again repeated the lap sitting, but as Kate by then had told me "Oh, he bites - be careful where you pet him", it nicely ratcheted up my kitty terror. Now, I do think Kate was just winding me up, but she's pretty good at that so I wasn't ENTIRELY sure if I shouldn't believe her or not! What I can tell you is that the Beanwood household can rest easy from fear of burglars or the like. Not because they have three large dogs, but because Remy is on duty. That is one kitty that no one would dare challenge!
Yes - yes indeed I am! (edit - or maybe just blissfully ignorant of the full damage a Cat of Unusual Size could inflict on my delicate person?)
I knew Remy was big from Kate's photos, but I didn't realise he was THAT big! I love him more than ever now I think he's definitely a fan of you, Emily!
@Emily_BabbelHund Great photo's Emily, love the one of Casper who always gets me right here Lucky you meeting up with everyone Have a wonderful day with the lovely Kate, Sam and Nell. Give them kisses and hugs from me, Hattie & Charlie please.xx @Beanwood What's the name of the house, is it a National Trust? Beautiful xx
My goodness , Remy is twice the size of Nelly who has been brushed for the occasion ! Thank goodness the stormy weather has gone and for now, the sun is shining and a huge pasty is made and ready ( we ate ours last night because we are greedy ! ) xx
Remy is one in a million. The dogs adore visitors and fuss over them...Remy just OWNS you! I do remember a delivery man completely freaking out...he was odd mind. He came up to the door stared at Remy, who glared back with his laser look..which means..." move quick or you is dead" literally threw the parcel and ran off screaming "That's not a cat!" He is great..doesn't catch birds, just drags the occasional muntjac in from the fields....
I love this thread! Look how sweet Nelly looks there I love the pictures of the Beanwood pack, as always How much does Remy weigh do you think?! Biggest cat I've ever seen!
What a great read Emily, really enjoying it. Wonderful photos too. Look at Nell's lovely face Photo please of Sam
It's good to read the Labratour News and see the photos too. Remy definitely looks like a cat who's in charge and keeps the Beanwood gang in order! Nell has such a lovely face - she must have seemed tiny after meeting Remy?!
Nell is just as adorable as you think she is! No comparison to Remy, though - like apples and oranges. Or ferocious lions and fluffy bunny tails. Actually Nell seemed quite substantial to me, maybe because I'm used to my friend's chihuahua, Fine. Nell is about twice Fine's size, so she seemed quite sturdy to me!
