    Hi guys,
My 1yr old lab has be getting lumps on his face around his lips and chin. My partner (who is an experienced dog owner, I'm not) says they're just ingrown hairs and nothing to worry about, he actually squeezed one and lots of hair came out onto his finger tip. I feel I should be concerned about this and I'm not sure what to do to help my boy, our vet's response to almost every issue we've had in the past has been to put him on steroids and antibiotics and I don't trust that their advice is in Luther's best interest and not to make money.
Any help or advice you wonderful people could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

I would go back to your vet. There are a number of reasons for small lumps and bumps on the face ranging from food intolerance through to allergies. I certainly would avoid squeezing any of them, due the risk of increasing skin irritation and risk of infection.

You can always change vets if you are not comfortable with the history of treatment/recommendations you have received.

Hi and welcome . Given his age , I`m wondering if this might be Canine Acne and not ingrowing hair ? Many dogs, my own included , suffered from this , had raised spots around his mouth and chin which is the most common area to find this . I was told just to keep the are clean , I used a diluted solution of hibiscrub and once my boy reached maturity , his immune system kicked in and they disappeared . However , I did take him to the Vets to get this diagnosis , which is what I would advise you to do , good luck .

I wouldn't squeeze them. My dog is around the same age and had the same, it was dog acne. I used a tea tree face wipe on them but that's about it. They never developed into anything nasty and went away without issue. They were a bit shocking the first time he developed them though, I've never experienced it before.
