I am thinking bleaching. Murphy is chocolate, but around the top of his head, top parts of ears he is more of a golden brown. We have REALLY intense sun here and he loves it outside. We keep a kiddy pool ready for him so we can play even when it is 90, which is most of the time here in the summer. He will play a bit, then relax in his spa and cool off. Wash, rinse, repeat until he is ready to go inside and cool off in the A/C.
Ok - this is getting serious. She has re-developed the brown patches on ears, sides, rump and thighs. It's the black Lab equivalent of going grey - and she's only 8!
Don't worry guys. It was the vet who said it was how black dogs often start going grey. She's mid-course on cartrophen and I asked about it at the last visit.
Nor me. My recently deceased one was grey round the muzzle and had some long grey hairs under his belly, but no sign of brown anywhere. Maybe Lady has Chocolate genes?
Willow's gone brown on her rump, Luna's got highlights in the same place. It's their coats being thrown.
Sky’s black (grey in parts!) coat has some brown patches on it. Sometimes a good brush/comb will get rid of a lot of dead hair but sometimes the brown patches are just there.
That's interesting. It didn't occur to me as she hasn't done that before. Mind you there are other things she hasn't done before but now does in her eighth year like scent marking. She started doing that a few months ago and I took her to the vet as I thought she'd developed a UTI!
