went to the local fish mongers yesterday,......bought some salmon for jasper and got talking to they guy on the stall, i was saying to him its only for the dog for treats , then he was asking what dog do i have .....we got on great he as a golden lab 12 month old, we was comparing notes, i told him jasper is not very food motivated but loves fish i came home with a big bag of salmon and fresh sardines FREE he said next time you come see me and i will sort you a big bag of salmon trim and sardines,...... free for my lab friend one spoilt lab
Re: free salmon Oh lucky Jasper ;D ;D Our local Morrisons used to sell salmon trimmings everso cheaply, but now it goes to a pet food company When we go down to Looe , the lady who owns the fish stall on the quay often gives me damaged fish . Its lovely Lynne to get something for nothing , especially when its a quality item
Re: free salmon i cook it in the oven, is it ok to give him this daily for his training treats, i only cut small pieces up for him he is fine with salmon but i don't give it to him daily normally i now have a freezer full of salmon and a free bag of dog bones off the other stall
Re: free salmon I think that'd be fine, as long as all bones were removed from the cooked fish. You could also try slicing it thinly or doing small cubes and drying it out in a very low oven (or food dehydrator) at about 50-60 degrees C.
Re: free salmon thank you ..... he de scaled it for me,for got to add he gave me 10 chicken drum sticks for 2 pound........when mark gets home there will be nothing in the freezer for him just food for jasper
