My son Joseph went back to University today so there has been lots of packing up his room over the last few days under Charlie's very close supervision which seems to have unslettled him. We loaded up the car this morning, Charlie thought he was going with him, he jumped into the front seat ready to go. I got him inside and Joseph said his goodbyes :( Charlie was crying like a baby it was just awful :(:( he was walked at 0600 but has stayed in his bed only coming out for his dinner.

The house is so empty what with Grace being in New Zealand and now Joseph off again. I think changes in a household can affect some dogs. Poor Charlie looks so lost :( xx

What a sensitive boy Charlie is. Perhaps an extra special walk tomorrow or some special training (and it's accompanying attention) will help lift his spirits. I hope he's happier soon xx

Definitely Sue, lots of fun tomorrow :) It's so strange going from 4 children to 1, the whole dynamics of the house have changed and not just for Charlie :( x

I totally sympathise with you. As Orianna no longer lives at home, Harley sulks for about 24 hours after every visit. I try to take her on special walks, but it doesn't really work. Sending you both big hugs x

My two mope too when members of the family come and go, lying by the front door when they've left instead of being with me. They love having more people around and I often think they must be really bored when it's just me.

I hope Charlie (and you) adjust soon. It doesn't help that they pick up our feelings too.

Poor Charlie. When DH has to go out, Sky will sit on the third stair and stare out the window. She does come away after a bit but will go back there about 15 minutes before he arrives back. This is way too long for her to have heard his car but somehow she knows he is returning. Never ceases to amaze me.

I missed seeing this yesterday. I do hope Charlie feels better today; he is bound to miss his human friend Joseph and I feel so sad for him. However, today is another day and I am sure you have thought of interesting things for Charlie to do and take his mind off it. Maybe he also picks up how you and your OH feel as you will be missing Joseph as well.

Do hope Charlie's mood is lifting today, sounds like changing times for everyone. I'm certain they pick up on moods and feelings.
It reminds me of when my daughter was about 9 we had a collie who loved her, early one morning we were getting ready to go out to a competetion, he couldn't come, but he went and got a blanket from his bed and put it on top of our bags and sat down as if to say "I've got my stuff, I'm coming too" ! I still feel bad about leaving him behind ! How daft!

Sorry missed this. Hope Charlie is feeling better today and has settled after the weekend.
My wife always tells me that Vanilla will lay on the rug by the front door or at top of stairs looking at the front door until I get back. Never nice knowing that they get upset too
