@Emily_BabbelHund hope you feel better soon. Never nice and especially if you are not in your own place. This is what happens when you get obsessed with Tesco rather than concentrating on finding a pup Hopefully you will be back in action in no time (finding a pup )
Seeing as it's taking so long, maybe it's the Lagratour2017? Hmmm, if you have to explain it, it's not funny. I'll get my coat.
OK, I'm alive again and back at it. Once again, I have no idea what you are talking about. This is the plus twos and the tweed all over again. And I thought I had a grasp of English, but apparently I only have a mild grasp of London English. This country stuff if a whole 'nuther thing. I've now adopted this. The Labratour has an official hashtag! Good question. First priority is health. If I'm going breeder vs. rescue, I'm going EXCELLENT breeder, so I really want someone who is meticulous about the health checks. Second priority is temperament. Harder to know ahead of time and every pup is different, but if I was describing my idea adult dog, it would be: nerves of steel, steady, calm, loves people and other animals, low prey drive/reactivity, goofy, intelligent, affectionate love bug, enjoys learning. Not ball crazy, don't care if he retrieves or not (I know, "gasp!"), don't really even care if he can swim, though that would be a nice novelty for me. Looks-wise, I firmly realise that whatever my puppy ends up looking like, I will think he is THE HANDSOMEST dog ever. But if I was just picking a dog out of a line up without knowing his personality, I'd go for a big, bruiser male, tall legs, blocky head. Kate already knows this, but months ago she shared a photo album of one of her former fosters named Dougal, and he totally is my kind of dog. These are some photos (these are Kate's photos, credit to her and her OH). And with beautiful Benson
Thanks for all the nice thoughts. It was a crummy day on Sunday. I think it was the pig and the cow and the tea and the nerves and the everything. Every once in a while my tummy just goes off and yesterday was the day. Ick. I feel much better today and VERY thin. So...bonus? And I've not even made it to Tesco yet! Mmmm...maybe tonight? I am feeling quite peckish (one of my favourite English words). And on the Labraprocrastinatour (the fact that I've come up with that simply shows that I've been in Germany for too long), I contacted three more breeders today. And maybe there were even some puppies involved with some of these breeders. I won't say things are happening to any extent that anyone here would get too excited about, but let's not give up hope on the mission yet. In the meanwhile, I'm really looking forward to meeting @Naya this week as well as getting to see Crios (now George), a dog I met in a shelter in Spain. Can you believe that this huge guy got shipped all the way from Cadiz to Bristol? I became friends with the woman who saved him and fostered him for his first 1.5 years, so I'll be taking lots of photos and sharing with her and the rescue group in Spain.
Nice I can see why you like him. the health testing is logical but the other stuff is hard because it's something that you have to help develop. It's more like buying a house, you have to compromise.you won't get everything on your wish list. For my first lab my friend found the breeder the litter and I just picked the one I liked the look of it made things easier. Health was good and his parents were good He was a great dog. find a litter thats healthy from a type you like the rest is up to you. I know it's hard I found getting Rory hard I was very conflicted for many reasons but in the end I jumped. None of us know the Future but it's better with a dog at your side. Don't think just do.
Awww..it's little kids! OK, much different than what I think of as a "gang". Oh yeah, I know. That's why I said "ideal adult dog", all while knowing there is no such thing and when you take home that ball of fluff all bets are off - you just do your best to raise them right and enjoy their personality as it develops. Although pretty much what I described was the temperament of my first Rottie, Duncan. Brogan was more a mixed bag, re-active ball of nerves that he could be, but you may have already noted that I loved him with all my heart anyway. And I've already said, even if the little puppy I get ends up growing into a cross-eyed, pin-headed, short-legged adult with patchy fur, I will still think he is the handsomest dog ever. And if that does happen, don't any of you try to tell me otherwise, OK?
Yay! Oh, you are going to meet Harley! Pongo's darling darling darling Harley! With the lovely tail!!!!
It's a good thing @Beanwood got HER gang show photos up so soon, as it's taken me forever! But at long last, here are the best of the bunch. For ALL the gangland fun, I've joined the modern world and posted the lot on Flickr. First off, we set the stage with a view of the tents and the requisite stately home (Bowood House There's lots of stuff you can buy (or in this case sniff). But you had better really like khaki tweed because that's the only color you're going to find. Personally, I liked these whatchamacallits. There were exhibitions to see, like this gentleman with what appears to be a boneless ferret. He also had a dog that liked to roll around on the grass. I didn't see how either of his team was supposed to help him (supposedly) catch a rabbit, but it was entertaining. You could also pet a beautiful horse... ...or see a famous horse perform his dance. Or "horse boarding", which is someone who clearly has very sturdy bone composition being dragged around the field at high speed by a horse. And of course the gun dog activities! But what you really came for was the PUPPIES so let's get to it... ...with an adorable Lab puppy! Followed by and an adorable Spinone puppy (posterior). And the prettiest puppy of them all, Miss Brambelina. No surprise...it seemed like everyone had a dog. So to be continued with a gaggle of dogs in the next post...
And without further ado, here are the dogs of the Gang Show! Serious dogs... Silly dogs... Dogs with flowers in their fur... Really, really BIG dogs... Really, really LITTLE dogs... Dogs that travel in packs... Very rare dogs... . Dogs posing with stylish footwear... Or looking elegant...
