    Re: Bracken and Ferns

Wow who knew there was so much to know about ferns! Yes, we do eat the fiddleheads here in Canada, but I've only had them a couple times. They seem to be more popular as an edible item in the Eastern provinces, and I'm in the West. The couple of times I have eaten them I looked it up online - there's quite a lot of warnings about not eating them if not prepared properly, you can sick, etc. So I've not eaten too much. They are a bit asparagus-y tasting...

Just a technical question - so "bracken" is another word for "ferns"?
