Anyone got any recommendations for a little boot to keep the Pig’s little dew claw area clean and dry after surgery? We have a bootie from the vets and it is completely useless, falls off, twists round, the Pig is sliding about and tripping over and biting at it. Or alternatively I wonder whether I can do some DIY with a sock and plastic bag or something? But not sure how I would stick it on?

@Lara, I bought dog booties for Charlie's numerous paw injuries but he can get them off  so I use an old clean long sock and vet wrap the top. Hope that helps and sending  to Indie xxx

Thanks Helen. I might try the sock idea! Do you get vet wrap just from the vet or can you buy it in other places? I think Indie wouldn’t try to get a boot off if it wasn’t falling off and tripping her up, she did better with the old drip bag that the vet put on her foot the first time round!

Places Like pets at home good pet shops sell it and you can get it on line from places like viovet. I usually buy it from my vet. Hope she's ok. I never have any luck much keeping them on though:rolleyes:

Vet wrap is handy for all sort of things. A good item for your doggy first aid kit.
I also have some of the "Pawz" rubber boots that are handy too, but Lilly doesn't really "do" footwear. And Pawz come in packet of 12 or something - would be handier if you could just buy two.

These are the large, but medium may be a better fit depending on paw size.

Yep they are good I used to use them for Doug He had jazzy purple ones. They were much kinder to his sore toes than heavy boots, the ones I had wouldn't cover the dew claw area though.

Oh they look good! But they look quite low, do they cover the dew claw in your experience?

Vet wrap is fabulous and I always have it in my first aid kit. Have even used it on my OH when the bandage on his broken ankle came loose earlier in the year! Just a word of caution if you have never used it before make sure you don't put it on too tightly. It can easily cause circulation problems if not used properly.
