Anybody have a lab that likes to nip and bite when he/she runs? Toby does this. He will nip and bite at hands, clothes, arms or whatever he can get at but only when we run together. It’s painful and scary for my kids. So what I did was I tied a rope to a ring that’s like a tennis ball (a tennis ball in the shape of a circle) and he bites the rope and ring instead of us. It helps a lot and enables the kids to play and run with him in the yard. Sometimes when we are out walking and want to run I’ll fold the leash up and put the whole thing in his mouth and then we run together. Anybody else have experience with this? Anything else I should be doing?

Shadow used to do this when he was young. It was just excitement. He grew out of it and now comes running with me. It sounds like you have a good management solution in the meantime. If he does manage a single pace without jumping up, make sure you shower him with praise, then go for two paces etc. He'll get there :)
