Have you tried wiping with cold tea bags? It appeared to work with Luna the last time she had a problem and she minded it far less than the drops.

Plum has had a fair few eye probs and I notice she gathers more sleep/gunk in the corners of her eyes than any other dogs I've known. Hers too is browny so I don't think it's a problem, I just clean her eyes regularly. I've used teabags before and had forgotten about it. Might try again but I don't drink tea so would have to do it specially!!

We don't drink tea, either. I asked my husband to pick some up while he was out. The most common tea here isn't very nice, and he drove a 45-minute round trip to go to another supermarket just so he could get PG Tips. I did say to him that no-one was going to be drinking it, so did it matter what brand it was? Apparently, it has to be the best available for the Squidge.

Well I have brewed them both a bag, let them cool and wiped both dogs eyes with their own tea bag. Can you use the bag more than once? They are having Yorkshire Gold Tea :D.

The teabag thing worked for Coco when his eye gunk tried to come back after drops treatment for conjunctivitis. Fairy Bridge tea bags actually. After I'd brewed a cuppa. And yes, much easier to administer.

I don't, in case there are nasties removed that I could re-introduce. I wipe one eye with one side, flip it over to do the other eye, so I don't cross-contaminate, then it goes in the bin. I guess the damp environment of a sitting tea bag could also foster bacterial growth, so it's a new one every time for us.

Nice to hear what brands all our pooches are getting :)

I know this sound a daft question but I have a box of decaf tea bags that I want to use up - is it the caffeine that helps the eyes?

I think decaf would be fine. :)

Their eyes look absolutely fine this morning. They see the vet tomorrow so I’ll just get their eyes checked out just to make sure it’s not an infection reoccurring. Tea bags seem to have done a good job. Thank you for this. One to remember. :)

We have been to the Vets with both dogs this morning and she says she thinks they are allergic to something. We have got Viscotears Liquid Gel and Piriton Tablets and see how they go. Hope it sorts it. Both dogs were exceptionally well behaved at the vets - both in the waiting room and in the vets room. We were there a long time as Sky also had her annual vaccinations and they were both weighed. I was so proud of them both :) - I think Red followed Sky’s lead as she was so patient and didn’t make any fuss when it was her turn to have her eye’s examined.
