Ah you're in a lovely spot. And if you make your way to the coast - you can see the Isle of Man on a clear day - I'm waving.
Oh, you lucky thing! Kendal is just beautiful! Glad you arrived safe and sound...didn't realise you were driving directly there!
@SwampDonkey , you're killing me with the puppy pressure. To be honest, I will sadly probably see none of the Lake District at all except for the immediate area around Kendal. Between work and puppy visits, that's pretty much all I can squeeze into a very short five days! And yes - there is now officially a puppy visit planned for Wednesday. The very first real breeder visit of the Labratour - yes! Also, the wonders of the Lake District may be a little lost on me as I'm kind of afraid of trees when grouped together to form a forest. So no foresty walks for me. Yes, I'm the only tree-phobic person you're every likely to hear about. On the other hand, I'd love to see the coast that's also not far from here, so there's hope.
Ummm...yeah...don't get TOO excited yet. This one hasn't passed the official "@snowbunny smell test" in terms of hip scores and CoI. But the breeder is so incredibly friendly (and charming) and he's thus far THE ONLY ONE in all of the UK to say "yes" to a visit, that I'm going regardless. You just never know...leave no stone unturned and all that. Plus I need some progress to report to all you good people that doesn't involve tea-making and Tesco ready meals. Oh, the pressure.
Woo hooo!!!!! Breeder visit #2 set up for Wednesday afternoon. Two visits in one day - I'm cooking with gas!
Yep, that lambie pretty much sums up my sentiments after having begged for a visit for a month with no results. Let's hope Wednesday is the beginning of the turning of the tide, not just a strange outlying blip. On a side note, I made my way out of the flat late this afternoon in search of food and while Kendal itself is grey on top of grey with a couple additional shades of grey, people actually said hello to me in the street and the checker at M&S was extremely chatty. Maybe this is the famed "northern friendliness" I've heard whispered about?
You can't beat us northerners Whenever I venture down south I'm always shocked at how little people speak
Yes indeedy, I did notice that about the south. Everyone was very polite to me - and of course the Forum people were wonderfully kind and friendly - but I did have the feeling that for the general populace I was too chatty by far. I got a lot of looks as if people were thinking, "Oh, poor dear, she's a little touched in the head". But then again, I get those looks in Germany as well, so I'm used to it. In defence of stoical southerners, having just come from the US, I was shocked at how you hear the full life stories (including various medical details) of seemingly everyone you meet. So that gave me more empathy for the more reserved people of the world. I'm unlikely to stop my constant chatter, but I do empathise!
Thought that was just me. You don't even have to speak directly TO people - just overhearing conversations in your local Tesco ready meal aisle, Emily.
Heh, heh - it's me too. I'm just not used to hearing other people doing it anymore! Thanks for giving me yet another reason to head to the read meal aisle.
Careful, careful where this conversation is heading. We might just upset someone... A friend of ours who is from the south of England has a saying - 'Anything north of the river Thames, is not part of the south'. This is more about the north/south divide...It is always said in jest, as we used to live in the north whilst living there thing that went through my head was the famous Wall Mart pictures...I am so sorry....
