My lab is just a year old, and she LOVES chewing. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can deter her from pulling the Christmas tree down, and chewing it to smithereens? At the moment, I am at a loss, and running out of time.... Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Don't allow her unchaperoned access to the tree.
Train 'Leave' - you've got plenty of time to get a strong cue in place.
Make sure that she has nice tasty chew instead of the tree :)

A baby gate/puppy pen around the tree?
    Along with 100% eagle-eyed supervision.

This is what I was thinking. In fact, my mother did this to me for my first few Christmases: stuck the tree inside the baby playpen so I couldn't get to it. Should work for a dog, too. :D

We used to put a pet playpen around the tree. Also you have to watch for presents under the tree that contain cookies, chocolate and the like.
