my 3 month old puppy Skye has a infection and she’s being treated with tablets, the vet said to mix some tuna along with the tablet in her food to get her to eat it. But I completely forgot to ask how much tuna she’s allowed! I bought the 120g cans in spring water, should I do a quarter of the can? She needs to have 2 tablets a day so half a can a day or do I give less?
I use moist dog food like forthglade chilled in the fridge the cut into large cubes. They are cold enough to keep a firm cube but soft enough to push a pill into the cube. I then play Russian roulette works everytimes and I've tricked my dogs so many times
Raw mince, Greek yoghurt, cheese, pâté, tuna... my lot will take tablets in pretty much anything. I just make a little ball big enough to hide the tablet in and they gobble it straight down.
Definitely the Russian roulette thing works. I'd prepare 3 cubes of cheese/sausage/whatever - one with the pill. I think Belle must have had a tiny bit of Lab in her, she was such a greedy pig. Worked every time for pill administration.
I put the tablet in her food and mixed a 1/4 of the tuna and it went down a treat! Thank you for the ideas though, I may use them to stuff her Kong so she has some variety
