How gorgeous they are when they are so small, cherish this time as it passes so quickly, take lots of photos. I can't believe how quickly Maisy has grown, she is only 8 months which means we have had her only 6 months but blimey she is so big now. This will be a long 2 weeks for you, you must be so excited :chuckle:

I messaged how she was doing today and she is fully weaned now. She a good weight etc. We are visiting this weekend and she has said as she is doing so well we could take her home this weekend. But she is also happy to keep her to the date we have arranged.
Esme be 6 weeks on Wednesday.
Not sure what to do. Other half happened to have a long weekend off this weekend.
We have everything ready for her arrival.
    Not sure what to do.
She is happy to have her till she is 8 weeks and 3 days as originaly planned
    Not sure what to do.

I think 6 weeks is too young for a pup to leave it's mum. There is a reason that the date for separation is 8 weeks, I am not really experienced but I know that pups have a lot to learn from their mums and siblings, especially from play with other pups where they learn bite inhibition etc. Even though it is really tempting for you, I would leave it until the agreed 8 weeks. It will come round soon enough,

Great to be visiting her but wait until she’s eight weeks before you bring her home.

She will learn so much from her siblings in those two weeks.

Definitely wait until she's eight weeks. We don't allow people to post about puppies who have been rehomed too early on the forum. It's not all about weaning, it's about emotional development. I would be cross if a breeder suggested it was acceptable to take her away from her litter mates and mother too early.

Here is the forum policy: https://thelabradorforum.com/threads/forum-policy-on-underage-puppies.11455/

If you look here, you will see that it's even in government guidelines: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/buying-a-cat-or-dog

So grateful for your replies, it took me by surprise when she said. I said no initially and then I phoned my other half up and spoke to him and he said its up to me. Your knowledge been valuable already and Ive not even got her here.

So glad you're waiting. The 2 weeks will seem like an eternity, but will be well worth it in the long run.

I recommend the Happy Puppy Handbook and Total Recall. Very informative and excellent books, especially for first time doggy owners. Take the two weeks to read those so you can avoid some of the natural pitfalls that most owner can accidentally make. It’s so so much easier to avoid behaviours now than to correct them later. Enjoy and use the forum, even if it’s just to vent about how your perfect little bundle of joy has turned into a monster.

How exciting for you - but I must say I am so glad you resisted the temptation to bring her home early. Enjoy your last two weeks of being dogless - your life will change but so much for the better. Two weeks will pass so quickly :)
