    Hi All
I am currently toilet training my puppy but she only goes to the toilet on the patio. I lift her on to the grass but she insists on coming back onto the patio. I’m really pleased that she’s going outside but she can get in a bit of a mess when she wees on the patio as her paws are covered in it. I don’t use a lead in the garden, would this help? Any advice would be great so I can get on the right track ASAP.
    Thank you.

You might find that the smell of her wee/poo from the patio is attracting her back.
I wonder what you are using to clean?
Inside we recommend Simple Solution as it helps neutralise the pee odour.
    Is that worth a thought?

Can I use that outside? I haven’t checked, I just assumed it would wash away with the rain. We’ve worked on it a lot today and she’s making progress so fingers crossed she’ll get past it.

I guess it depends on the surface and how porous it is, as to how effective it is. I use it on our back doorstep, diluted in a bucket of water, to sluice away any pee or poos done by visiting puppies, else my poor sensitive Lilly is unwilling to go out!

I think Mags @Boogie has mentioned she uses laundry liquid diluted in a bucket - hope I have got that right Mags. Not sure how that compares to the simple solution regards getting rid of dog-detected smells.

Ok great, I will give it a try - because of the cold, wet weather I think she finds the patio the better option sometimes.

    Thanks for the tip.

Yes, our pups have to toilet in a small ‘spending area’ either concrete, stone or gravel. I keep a watering can with a weak solution of bio liquid (the stuff you wash clothes with) - one squidge per can full - and I swill every wee. No smell at all and the grass is saved from wee burns :)

Here is our spending area, which is right outside the patio doors. No smell, even in the summer.
