Inside of a Dog: What Dogs See, Smell, and Know - Alexandra Horowitz I enjoyed reading this book. It is a bit dry but that is to be expected given the author's credentials and perspective. However, she laces personal vignettes about herself and her dog "Pump" throughout the text which helps to lighten it up quite a bit. The book gives a dog owner excellent insight into the behavior of dogs. Understanding what they can see and smell is a huge advantage for an owner. It explains some of the things they do. Wonder why your dog feels the need to smell absolutely everything? This book explains it. If carefully read it can lead a dog and his human into a more satisfying relationship. It is like a friendship. Friends understand things about each other and compensate accordingly. Your friend does not like loud music, so when you meet for drinks you just know not to suggest a place with a punk rock band. Your friend knows you absolutely love german beer so he does not suggest a wine bar. The thing with dogs is that they cannot verbalize, but they can communicate (as most of us know). I think it is well worth the price.
Oh yes! Every time I do to drop the recycling in or the grass cuttings. There is a hut where "good stuff" is put for anyone to help themselves to - reduce landfill.
