on thursday we are picking up esme.
I don’t know why, but I’m feeling nervous.
Will i be a good parent, scared how much damage she will do with puppies being keen on chewing. The stories ive read and heard.
I’m new to having dogs, but my fiancé (since Saturday) has had labs before, however he works away mon to fri. He has 3 weeks off over Xmas. I go to uni few hours a week so I’m not out for long periods of time.
Is it normal to be nervous?

    Morning, me too!!

We are picking up Jack tomorrow morning. I have grew up around dogs but this is our first dog with my kids and I am so nervous. I have the crate, pen and everything set up but I am so nervous and super excited. I think I am overwhelmed reading too much information on training etc that it has made me worry. But it also feels like Christmas has come early and we are so excited I doubt there will be much sleep in my house tonight. Just take each day as it comes and enjoy the puppy stage as it goes too fast.

It’s normal to be nervous, so don’t worry that you’re nervous :) It is all going to be totally fine. You’ll love having your puppy and having him become part of your family. It might not be all plain sailing but every single challenge can be overcome. We’re here to help 24/7 too :)

Do buy the "The Happy Puppy Handbook" by Pippa Mattinsson, it will be your bible, answered virtually every question and worry. Puppies are hard work to begin with, they are like babies, they know nothing and you will do the teaching gently. It will be a good idea to get the puppy a crate so that you can pop the puppy in when you want to shower etc, so the pup then cannot chew the house:). There is lots of advice on here how to crate train and any other worries you might have. Puppies are a joy on the whole :)

    Bless you xx

You don’t need to be a good parent, just a kind one. You will be her parent and that’s all that will matter to her. We all make mistakes, and plenty of them. You will be learning together.

Enjoy every minute - but remember it’s not all joy and snuggles lol!

Nervous, apprehensive, excited , all rolled into one , feelings we have all had . Try not to worry about getting everything right , we rarely do , enjoy your puppy as they grow up so quickly x

Hi, congratulations on your engagement :)

I'd say normal to be nervous, it's quite a big change in your life but one I'm sure you won't regret. And remember you may not encounter half the issues you read about on here, I know people who've had Labs for years and not experienced crocopups!
