Every time I see the title of this pop up, my brain starts into a bit of Dire Straits. Can't be that many songs using the lyrics "microwave oven".......
Walk of life. Woo hoo. Makes me happy And Romeo and Juliet is mine and OHs special song after I spent a year in Verona living apart from him. So cheesy. Back to small appliances, the true essence of this thread. I could live without a microwave, toaster, dishwasher , and an umbrella. But not an iron. I've been known to just iron the visible collars and front of a shirt if I'm wearing a jacket, i don't iron bedclothes or pants, and I seek out no iron clothes, but not ironing ever again? Just no.
I iron two items a day, no more, no less. I w*rk one day a week so some decent clothes are required I’m tempted to properly retire in July. Then the iron will retire forever!
I have to iron work clothes. Apparently it's frowned upon to give legal advice in clothes covered in Labrador fur and that are creased. So it's just Labrador fur for now
I hope he does the dishes then? Our arrangement is I do all of the cooking, with the occasional meal cooked by OH if I’m not in the mood at all, but OH does all of the washing up. I cannot stand washing up!
I wear a suit to work. I have the suit cleaned at the dry cleaner and only ever buy tops that are non-creasing
My OH cooked tonight - the duck breasts we were going to have hadn't fully defrosted (despite being sat in the garage in a cool bag since last Thursday) - so we popped out and picked up some Iceland Luxury range chicken curries (and they were delicious by the way - recommended by my Indian boss) - he poked the holes in the lids & put them in the oven (NOT the microwave), stirring at the appropriate time. And he dished up. Oh, but I had to boil the rice.
If I could have an ironing board permanently up, then I might iron! It is just such an effort to get the board out, so I don't iron except on very rare occasions
I like this thread - even though it has hardly anything to do with Labradors or microwaves. My vote is for @snowbunny as the most survivalist of all: no bathroom, no heating, no microwave, no toaster...yet able to effortlessly slap together a gourmet meal, save dogs, train a recall, create award-winning software and enjoy a glass of red. All at the SAME TIME.
I have an iron. It's in the cupboard somewhere. Oh, and the ironing board is out in the 'rabbit room' (where our pet rabbits used to live), so putting the two in the same place at the same time is a challenge. It doesn't often happen. I bought a tumble drier some years ago to avoid ironing!
