I came in with shopping greeted Rory put the shopping away. Made my dinner ate it gave Rory some tidied up a bit and Moo stayed asleep snoring quietly. She eventually woke up seemed surprised to see me but pleased i was home. She is soooo deaf, such a funny old Moo
Took Ripple out for some dummy retrieves in rough ground this afternoon. It was very cold and very still so quite difficult weather; he did brilliantly, found every retrieve very quickly even one that bounced off the bank and ended up in a stream, still having a bit of trouble with steady as he's so keen but I will continue to work on that. Oh, and of course there was one retrieve where he brought me back a random antler that he'd found . But he did go back for the dummy afterwards .
I went out to our office Christmas do. It was ok, but I hate animal cruelty and educate myself enough to know what I'm talking about. I also help out with a local animal charity as much as i can. I have veiws which often get me into trouble but I do try to avoid some of the issues which I find ethically mmmm challenging. I work with good people kind people but some are very limited in their understanding. They treat me a bit like a pet crank but I don't care at least l might make one of them think. We often as a group go out. We do different things like cream teas films etc. One of the group members wants to go greyhound racing I said no way unethical cruel abbusive to be told no no no it's all fine now. My reply was yes yes yes go and do some research. It does goes on still. I like this woman but I find her ignorance and reluctance to educate herself worrying. I have in the past had to look at photos of her grandchildren swimming with dolphins through gritted teeth. Yes lovely while thinking yes it's wonderful watching children help in the systematic abuse of sentiant mammals. I sure she thinks I'm a killjoy but I'm not I just for personal reasons am very serious about the abuse of power. I always feel like the odd one out but not so much on this site I know I'm not the only one. Finally I realise that other people realise that black beauty us not a book about horses too.
I’m with you all the way @SwampDonkey - I hope the idea was vetoed. This time of year is upsetting when you see real reindeer at Christmas markets. What are they thinking?
Its hard whatever they decide I won't be going and there will be a heavy campaign to stop it as for the reindeer that kind of stuff is everywhere
Aaaargh, after a good day with Ripple yesterday he was a horror at agility . Ran off to play with a springer and a collie, instigating such a rough session of play that the springer took fright and the trainer said Ripple was being aggressive not playing. I said it was just rough puppy type play but it was obvious she didn't agree with me. He also got so overexcited watching the other dogs that he started jumping and biting at my clothes and I had to take him away to calm him down. What is so frustrating is that when he has his turn he does really, really well as he concentrates on what's being asked of him. Unfortunately I had not been able to concentrate on the instructions whilst he was jumping about and didn't take him quite the right way round the course. Anyway with a bit of improvisation from me ( ) we did get round. I've gone back to feeling that I don't want to keep going to agility which is ridiculous because what I really need is some method of coping with (or containing) Ripple's over excitement.
Trouble is he's the brightest kid in the class he knows what's happening and can't wait.the instructor doesn't get labs does she?
No, she definitely doesn't get labs, she's a 'small' dog person who need to be wound up to perform - Ripple, of course, arrives everywhere already wound up .
Please take photos of the beautiful Pods!! The vet nurse at my mum’s surgery (where Conchita will be registered) wants to rescue a Pod. I’m going to try to get her to take Floyd
I think there's a mouse living in our conservatory. Have seen tiny little poos. By conservatory, I mean unheated, wooden structure with old furniture where my pelargoniums and cacti live over winter, washing is dried, and 'stuff' is stored. Nothing posh. Action or no action?!
Get a humane trap get It out cos it might have babies and you will have poo and wee everywhere. The will eat your stuff and in the summer you might get overrun
Are you sure it's not gecko poo?* *I blamed mice for little pellets in our house in Spain but then I saw a gecko pooping and realised that was it them
Hmm that's what I'm thinking.there's minimal poos at the moment making me think there's only one, but the room has got loads of fat balls, bird seed, bulbs plants etc to see a mouse through till spring. I've seen the devastation a pregnant mouse can cause in a kitchen before... You'd think a house with a dog and cat in it would notice a mouse.... But no.
Wild Geckos in nuneaton? I long for the day Sadly I've googled pictures of rodent poo and can probably only be thankful it isn't rats, though we have had those in our garden this year for sure. I'm sure the pellets are too small for rats. How would I know if there is a gecko squatting in my conservatory?
Ella's on the tiles in the kitchen because she's hot and tired from our walk but she just wants to keep an eye on the game that Nathan and I are playing in case she needs to come and join in
