    hi all
So we picked Luna up a week ago today. We’ve fell in love with her. She’s settled really well and Shiko our other 4 year old lab has accepted her. Great.

My concern at present is that she’s started scratching which is okay I guess but we’ve now noticed her gnawing at her legs and paws and tail. She has been de-flea’d and wormed and the breeder put the pups on eukanuba large dog puppy feed. Not our first choice but she’s on it. She’s due her 2nd vaccination next Thursday and this will be her first trip to the vets?
Any ideas or suggestions would be great

Itching can be due to an allergy and allergies can be caused by different things. Allergies can be food, or something in the environment like pollen or mould spores.

I’d probably try to make an appointment with the vet earlier to talk about the itching. It’s best to get onto it quickly to stop it before it becomes a habit or any skin damage is done from the scratching and chewing.

I’ve got an itchy dog too so I understand how unpleasant it is for the human too. In our case it’s seasonal allergies caused by things in the environment. It goes away in winter.

My pup was itching in her first week with us, the vet thought it was a reaction to something in the garden. Not sure what it was but a couple of days on antihistamine and a skin soothing bath sorted it out and she hasn't been itchy since.
A quick trip to the vet sounds like a good idea

My theory is that some puppy itching is just because all of a sudden they now have the co-ordination required to scratch. That would be hind foot up on the neck. Mine both did it, no sign of a reason why, and then they stopped. Not to pooh pooh a serious reason being a possibility.

Is your house warmer than the breeder's? IN winter we check inside humidity with a hygrometer. Proper humidity helps thwart colds in you and is better for your wood furniture and electronics too. And it might help with puppy itching.
