Yeesh somehow I'm always posting in this thread.... Okay so here I am in Prince Edward Island....just about as far away in Canada as I can get from home....a good 5 hour flight at least from here. I was at a conference - left on Wednesday, and Mark joined me on Friday. Leaving my 17 yr old girl to take care of Simba. She is really responsible and loves him a lot, so, it should be fine.....right? BUT....she had a home volleyball tourney this weekend, so wasn't home for a lot of the weekend, except for sleeping basically.,Leaving pooch by himself in the yard.....so...he has found a way to escape the yard, jumping over the fence somewhere. She came home on Saturday to him running up the driveway to greet her, and I think the same on Sunday as well. She was wondering about chaining him up in the backyard....that would obviously not be good. So she's had to leave him in the yard again today..... .....why, oh why, can I NOT go away without worrying about the dog??? We don't get home until after midnight on Tuesday night so we've got today and tomorrow to get through.... :'(
Re: The Great Escape Oh dear Lisa, that isn't great. Once he's found the way to get out of the yard, he will probably continue to do so, because it's more rewarding for him that being in the yard on his own. Oh dear, what a worry for you...
Re: The Great Escape I know.... Just hoping now that he'll get back okay when he does go (definitely WHEN not IF)....we don't live in a busy traffic area, but still.... :'( :'( Once we get home we will be able to put something up to block him but my girl can't do that on her own... :'(
Re: The Great Escape Sorry Lisa, I didn't mean to sound so negative, but my sister in Australia had an escapee Labrador (a rescue, like yours, who had been chained in the yard in his previous home), who became an inveterate escaper. I think you are right - you need to really get the fence situation sorted once you are back, so he cant get out. Just too dangerous otherwise.
Re: The Great Escape Just heard from my girl and she left Simba inside which could be tricky.... The house might be chewed down by the time she gets home....I'm trying to contact someone to give him a walk at lunch....
Re: The Great Escape Yes, I fully realize that once he's figured it out there's no going back....thanks for the sympathy Karen, just need a place to vent where I know there's understanding....
Re: The Great Escape Inside is better than out though if he knows how to get out of the garden - still hugely worrying for you though. Oh, Simba!
Re: The Great Escape Keeping my fingers crossed for you Lisa :-\ If its not one thing, its another - SO much worse than the kids :
Re: The Great Escape Oh Lisa, hope you sort this out. I agree with Jac, 4 kids here and they are less trouble than 1 x Charlie :
Re: The Great Escape Hope the house is ok. I would have made that move too. I'm sure you can sort it out once you get home
Re: The Great Escape I bet your daughter was so worried. I think it's the right move to keep Simba inside (even if he does destroy some things). Much less risk. Hope all ok when u get home x
