I feed my 9 month old chocolate lab with a food dispensing toy such as a Kibble Nibble. After months of use my baseboards are getting all banged up with paint chipping and all! I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions when it comes to feeding this way.
An empty water bottle? That might be a bit kinder on your baseboards. A snuffle mat would definitely be a gentle option.
I'll give the water bottle a try. I bought a snuffle mat for him when he was a few months younger and he went right for the plastic on the bottom and started to destroy it. I was thinking about bringing it back out and giving it another try. Thanks for the suggestions!
I like the purple busy buddy squirrel treat dispenser, made of a rubberised material so bouncy but I don't think it would chip paint? A bonus is that it's quieter than the plastic-based treat toys.
Tilly walks down our downstairs hallway and leans against it, rubbing her sides. We painted the hallway brown, but it is not a good enough match. Beat up baseboards don't sound too bad. I tried one of the treat dispensing balls, that has a cylinder in the middle that you can put kibble or biscuits in. Cooper managed to empty it in about 3 minutes, and then decided to try to chew off the screw top. We tried another style that had a chewable insert in the side. The dogs could get it out and eat it 5 minutes or so, and they cost several $s each. Frozen Kongs are the only one we have tired that works well.
