Welcome, so sorry to read about Harvey, I lost my beloved Lab Drift in September, so can empathise. I love the name of your new pup, As someone so wisely said "I am not replacing my beloved dog, just creating a new space in my heart"

Hello, thank you and hi to Hattie and Charlie. They are family aren't they, so it takes time. He will always be such a part of our happy memories as we bought him home when our daughter was 6 and so those growing up family memories are ingrained. Thank you for lovely words.

So, We've had a change of plans and will be having a quiet Christmas, and we've bought forward picking up Gunner to tomorrow morning. This afternoon I had a bit of a cry about Harvey (bit more than a bit of a cry to be honest). Stupidly, I watched a video from 2013 But I think now I can see that I can still have Harvey and his character in my heart and memories and let Gunner just be who he will be. We'll go with it. Looking forward to the little boy being in our house that's for sure. Happy Christmas to the forum, and hope everyone has a lovely, fun filled time with their beautiful labradors.

I hope all goes well with collecting Gunner tomorrow. Have a lovely Christmas with him, too, although I can’t quite imagine how Christmas will be quiet with a new puppy!:doug:

Definitely. I still have a sob for my lost friends, but they're there in my heart and my memories. Good luck today - I hope we get to see some pictures of Gunner ;)

Gunner is home. Such a good boy, slept all the way round the M25! He found his confidence and had a wee in the garden straightaway. We've all played with him and I think he likes socks! He's really beautiful and he's crashed out with me now. We'll see what tonight brings.....but I think Harvey wouldve have loved him! I'll try and upload photos. Thanks for messages!

How exciting :) I hope he has a good night - and you too!

I now and then have a good sob about my beautiful departed dog too...miss him every day.

I’m sure that Gunner would get the ‘lick of approval’ from Harvey. :) Looking forward to pics ;)

Hi Victoria. Welcome to the forum, I’m relatively new too. Bailey is 13 weeks old and a very good girl so far with the odd thing that I’ve come on to the forum for advice on.

The forum is really helpful not only for any issues that you have going on but I find it really interesting reading other threads that may not apply at the moment but may affect me in the future. Everyone is super helpful so it’s a great tool.

On another note I haven’t had a dog for 15 years following the utter devastation of loosing Molly. The amount of fun we had together she really was like a best friend and member of the family. I had her from a pup and she was my baby girl! I still get upset now but as you said I do have lots of fab memories but I still miss her loads.
So just to say you are with like minded dog lovers on here

Hello, thank you for your message. We've had a wonderful and exhausting Christmas. Gunner is just lovely. He's a typical lab puppy, he's trying to eat everything in sight and has an hour or so of madness before crashing out! It's just a joy. Had a couple of moments about our dear Harvey, but in a nice way, he definitely would have given Gunner the lick of approval. Thanks again.

Hi there, thanks for your message I hope you and Bailey had a good Christmas. You're a few weeks ahead of us in puppy weeks, Gunner is 10 weeks. He's been a joy and exhausting all at the same time! But it's just lovely having him here, we're embracing the puppy antics. So funny! Still missing our Harvey, I know how you feel about Your dear Molly, they do have such an impact on your life. this forum is so helpful and friendly. You know you can share any issues. Have a good day.

Thank you so much. Gunner is a boisterous joy. At 7 weeks on for you from lovely Sam, it's still so raw I know exactly. They really do leave such a massive hole in your heart. Another woof doesn't replace the lost one, sort of diverts the pain in a way. Have a good Boxing Day ❤️
