    Hi all
    A strange one here....
So a couple of months ago my neutered male lab who would have been around 9months old started wetting at night, not just a little wet patch but what looked and felt like a full bladder.
We always let him out regularly and last thing at night.
He is walked twice daily off lead.
He had been dry since 9weeks old!!! With very few accidents.
Recently we8ve noticed him trickling urine on a couple of occasions when hes been awake and unaware.
He has had urine and blood tests which have shown up normal except for struvite crystals recently.
He is on a preventative antibiotics and had a bladder scan today which was also normal as far as they can see as they are not specialists.
They are suggesting an incontinence drug called Propalin.
They advise if this drug doesn't help then a specialist referral??
What are your thoughts or experience?
    Many thanks
    Steph x

No experience of this type of problem in a dog so would say you have to go with your vets advice. If you are concerned ask for a second opinion :) . What treatment are you giving for the struvite crystals? My cat suffered early this year with struvite crystals and part of his treatment was a change of diet with more wet food.

Personally I would wait to see if clearing up the crystals would stop the leaking and not go directly to the Propalin. That's what my Vet suggested for both the dog and the cat and neither needed any treatment more than getting rid of the crystals. An ultrasound to check on the size of the prostate might also be in order as an enlarged one can press on the prostate. I don't know if that's what the Propalin is for, if it was then you would hope to not be on it long term. My boy did have an enlarged prostate but we shrank it up with TCM.

However one TCM herb preparation we tried to wean down to a lower dose we found we could not. Whether that particular TCM works on the crystals or the prostate I am not sure.

Thought I would add: My Vet is very pleased to be seeing remarkably good results using electroacupuncture for urinary incontinence in a little spayed female dog she treats. It is used for male dogs too. Maybe something to look into, if getting rid of the crystals doesn't help?
