Where we live in NC it only snows once every few years or so. It snowed two days ago and nope, it has not melted yet. Murphy was born here, so he has never seen snow. When I opened the door to let him out he looked at it, then sniffed it, tentatively took a few steps into and decided WOW! This stuff is great! Only problem is the tennis balls get frozen and caked with ice, so he will go find them hidden under the snow after I throw one. He loves that, it looks like his tail is going to fly off. Here are some pics, I apologize for the darkness, but the contrast with snow and sun is pretty difficult and I am no photographer by a long shot. C'mon Ted, throw the darn thing wouldya!!!! Ok, where did it go? It is under here somewhere. Murphy likes the cold weather. Normally, in the summer he plays, takes a dip or two in the pool, plays a bit more and then decides it is time for the A/C in the house. We have noticed that now when we want to go in he will lay down for a few to cool off outside before coming in. Evidently snow is not an issue.
Grand photos, he is loving that snow ! We rarely get snow here in the far south west of the UK , I would have loved for my late Sam to experience what Murphy has, you go boy !
Lucky Murphy! That looks like a decent layer of snow, too. We had a "once in a lifetime" dump of snow in Wellington in 2010 so I doubt Xena will ever get the snow dog experience. It looks like such fun for doggos. Enjoy it while it lasts!
ONe year we lost a tennis ball along the snowmobile trail. The next day I found it smashed into millions of little pieces. It had gotten pretty wet so I guess it froze and then a snowmobile hit it and I wonder what happened then? Did it just break? Did it explode with a big bang? Did it just get ground into bits by the snomo belts? I kind of hope it exploded with a bang. Darn snomos rip up and down the trails and wake us up at night.
LOL, I hear ya Snowshoe. I grew up in Wisconsin. Sometimes, just for pure entertainment, I mention "ice fishing" to my local friends. They have a real hard time envisioning people driving out onto lakes, boring holes in the ice and claim they are having fun doing it. For two days now, since we got the snow, driving into town has been a real hoot. They have no equipment to deal with it so all the roads are covered with about an inch of slick ice. Max speed is about 10 MPH. There is no such thing as "oh, I know how to drive on this because I am from blah, blah, blah". Does not matter, I watched a guy in front of me this morning lose it at about 10 mph, full 180. Talked to him, he was from northern Minnesota, said he had never seen anything like it either.
