Does your lab have bedtime habits? Finn starts signing at 09:30pm that it is time for his bedtime walk. When we don’t respond he tries to shut the Programm on our iPad or computer by putting his paw on it. Nine out of ten times he is successful....then he starts yawning as if he is saying I want to sleep. After being out he goes to his crate, waiting for some treat. He will go to sleep after getting his treat, otherwise he stays in his crate and draws attention for getting a treat. Do more labs have a bedtime habit?
Mine doesn't, but very interesting to read about Finn, especially shutting down your computers, clever boy.
They are fun! And boy oh boy do they ever seem to know what time it is. Murphy likes to lay on his rug in front of the fireplace and snooze/watch TV with us. We normally turn it off about 9:30, if we don't then we start getting looks "what is wrong with you people?" If we continue to stay up, which is rare, he will get up, do the whole ear flap thing and make a big point of heading to the bedroom. But, he always gets a couple of treats just before bedtime, so when he sees we are winding it up, out he comes, throws himself in his bed and waits for his treats.
Our routine is no routine. Xena snoozes until I take her out for last wees, then goes back to snoozing until I go to bed.
Mine (without fail) is to get his toy in his mouth followed by ruffling his blanket and using his front legs to push the blanket backward through his back legs - sometimes he humps it too!!! We told him off and tried to discourage it in the beginning but we gave up. Now we let him 'have his fun' for a few minutes and when it gets too much we just say 'okay, that's enough!' Does anyone have the same experience or their labs doing something similar like Bowie?
Snowie has a built-in clock and signals the time for everything, including bedtime. I suppose cos we stick to a routine with him. It can be annoying if we don’t feel like sticking to the routine cos he lets you know about it!
We generally go to bed at 10pm just after Coco has had his last wee, then a little supper. From about 9:15 he will get up from his bed in front of the telly, and lie nearer the kitchen. If someone stands up to go to the loo or whatever, he will be up, alert like "is it supper-time yet?". When it IS that time & we both stand up, Coco will run around trying to herd OH into the kitchen - OH is faffing now, turning lights off etc, & Coco tries harder and harder with the herding thing - he's so funny! He does this every single night.
