Sunk in last night that today is actually Halloween and that somehow I'm going to have to manage giving out treats to litte'uns with a very friendly, food-obsessed lab doing door duty....yikes!!! About 5 hours til the first ones arrive here....thankfully we don't tend to get too many where we are!!

We had a record number of kids here tonight - ran out of sweets and had to give the last lot tangerines - they were not impressed! Poppy was amazingly chilled about the whole thing, unphased by the vampires, witches, zombies etc. Just one robot with a paper mâché head freaked her a little. Oh, and a fox terrier who growled at her sent her off into a frenzy of barking. ::)

Several of the children said they remembered the 'big black dog' from previous years. :'(

7 PM here....coming in dribs and drabs....decided this was the perfect opportunity to teach "sit" and "stay" when the kids come to the door. Took one visitor and the award of a new treat he hasn't had and it clicked. We're trying to do dishes in the kitchen so running back and forth a bit... Kids came and Mark got to the door before me...I came around the corner and look what I found....

Note: open door, kids on the other side, and food being handed out.... ;D

Now I'm sitting on couch and look over:

    ;D ;D ;D

Yup definitely getting the hang of it :D.....thankfully not too many kids or he'll gain 10lbs before the night is over....the treats on top of the half-loaf of bread he scarfed off the counter while I went out earlier certainly adding a few extra calories today.... ::) ::)

In his defense, my fault - I saw the bread there before I left and meant to put it away...came back to ripped bag and not one crumb in site.... ::) ::)

We had Halloween last night and.....don't hate me forever...but we put a lock on our gate... I know, just call me the Scrooge of Halloween. But we had all the ducks out and wandering about and can't risk an open gate or a strange dog wandering in.... Plus we had eaten all the available chocolate.....

Gee, I won't tell my hubby about that. He'd die of happiness if he had his own light sabre.
