She ate all her breakfast but not really interested in treats, but she is hit and miss with treats no matter what we try : I sometimes question whether she us actually a lab ;D We had a better walk, still not 100% herself but better

Did you discover what was the matter with Harley or did she just improve on her own? She was under anaesthetic 4 days ago, was sick twice 3 days later, bile only first then food later. I saw the vet yesterday who thinks it may be the anaesthetic still but I dont think so. Today she has been unfussed about food and actually refused a sausage!! On walks she has not been her bouncy self and at home has been sleeping a lot.
Hi @Shaz82, When Poppy was spayed earlier this year, it took her quite some time to get back to normal. Up to a week afterwards, I was still a little concerned about her, as she was very quiet, slept a lot, and wasn't terribly interested in food. My guess would be that this is what is happening with Maisy, too. Good that you have seen the vet again, and he is not worried. She'll probably be her normal self in a couple of days, but keep an eye on her (obviously). Good luck!
Hi @Shaz82 She recovered on her own. I think it was because of being over tired. When Harley was spayed she took nearly 2 weeks before she started getting back to herself. She was lethargic, not wanting to eat or drink much and not playful. I would just keep an eye on Maisy as some dogs do struggle after a spay. Hope she's back to herself soon.
Thanks for both your quick replies. When Maisy was spayed a few months ago she recovered quite quickly and was not like this, as far as I can remember anyway. This anaesthetic was for a possible obstruction in her throat and she had all her airways checked, all was ok but for some inflammation in her throat. Yesterday the vet gave some omezaprole because she was sick of which she has had 2, but I have stopped them as I think this may be side effects. I may be expecting too much after the anaesthetic, maybe it needs a bit longer to wear off. Thanks, it is hard not to worry but helps when you can get help and advice from this forum.
What do you think they did? Acid coming up the gullet can cause throat inflammation and a dry cough as well as nausea and vomiting. Just want to make sure you are sure she is better off the omeprazole than on it. jac
I considered this as my OH takes them for acid reflux, he takes 20mg and that is the dose that the vet gave Maisy. Maisy being much smaller than my OH and the fact that the amount given to individual dogs is designated by their weight we thought it was far too much, I checked the side effects and they match her symptoms after taking them. The vet did say to only give 2 then again only as we think necessary, so we are not being reckless. Also they were given for nausea and not reflux which the vet did not even mention. This morning Maisy is fine, she seems back to her old self, has eaten, drunk water, both toilets and very mischievous again. I am hoping she stays like this but if she becomes like she did yesterday evening I will contact the vet and mention acid reflux as your description is similar to how she has been lately. I am surprised the vet did not pick up on it. Thanks
When my recent foster had her leg amputation, she was on a myriad of medications, but one was omeprazole, 20mg once a day. She weighed about 20kg (pre op!). My husband also took the same dosage when he was on a course of pain meds recently. And I am given the same whenever I'm on them. My husband is a rake, but still weighs significantly more than me! I'm not a vet so can't possibly say what your pupster is reacting to, but just wanted to chime in and say that 20mg of that drug doesn't seem outlandish in my experience. I hope Maisy continues to be well
