Recently our almost 14 month old female Labrador has started to grab her blankets from her crate and hump them. Usually this happens after play time. I've read this is her masturbating and/or she is excited or a social issue. Could this be a sign she will be going into heat soon? She has not had her first heat yet which we are waiting for before we spat her. Any explanation of this behavior would be appreciated. Thanks
It may be over-excitement, it may be hormonal. At 14 months, if she's not already had a season, then she's certainly due one. I wouldn't be too worried, just distract her and see how it goes.
