The dog toy basket has lived on the top of Wispa's crate for ages. It's at the back and, although quite big, has so far been safe from marauding dogs. Until today. I walked the dogs as usual before going out for a while and leaving them with their Kongs and the run of the hall and kitchen/breakfast room as usual. Although I don't always go out after I've walked them (and sometimes even go out beforehand), they've been happy with the routine - apart from the occasional Tuppy mishap with forgotten slippers, paper, etc. Today when I returned I found a chewed-up poo bag (empty!) on the hall mat. Having picked up the bits, I took the dogs for a play in the garden and, leaving more peanut butter-smeared Kongs, popped out again briefly. This time I returned to find the binding of Tuppy's Christmas tree toy on the hall mat, with Wispa's polar bear toy (fortunately in one piece!). I put it back in the toy basket... and then the fun began. Tuppence made repeated trips to put her paws up onto the top of the crate and grab whatever she could from the toy basket. She's never done that before, but normally just rushes to it whenever any of the family come, sitting or standing by Wispa's crate and 'pointing' to the toys. Eventually I've had to resort to removing the toy basket and shutting it away elsewhere. Whatever has got into her head, after months, years even, of leaving it alone?! Never trust a (Tuppy) dog!
