I was wondering about this recently. A lot of the Labs around my area are kind of short and built like tanks in the 90 to 100 pound range. Zeke, on the other hand, is taller and much thinner but not skinny. I feed him a cup and a half of kibble twice a day with training type bites throughout the day for things done well. He's about 3 feet from his butt to nose and stands about 2 feet ground to top of shoulder. He gets a good 20 to 30 minute aerobic workout at least once a day but some times twice. On days it's only once he gets a good leisurely walk for about 20 minutes. He's just under 28 months old.
Cassie is 21 months and weighs 26.2 kg, 57 lbs. She's skinny, quite long, I've never measured her dimensions.
Harley is 4 years and 5 months old and weighs 29.5kg / 65lbs. She's quite short compared to a lot of labs and has very solid, large muscles in her rear legs and has a deep chest compared to most labs. She's not as slim as she could be, but is extremely fit.
Our target weight, agreed with the vet, is 28.5 kg (63lbs) and currently we're around 30kg 66lbs) . Unfortunately I took my eye off the ball last year and vorbit to reduce meal to allow for additional treats in the form of fruit (apple sluces, snall pueces of bananas and cgerries mainly
Axel seems to be taller than most labs, he’s 26 3/4 inches at the shoulders and weighs 100 pounds. I feel like he’s at the perfect weight right now, when he walks I can see his last few ribs which is what I like to see on him. He’s just turned 2 so I think he still has some bulking out to do in the shoulder area. He gets 5 cups of food a day plus some treats and any nibbles of what I’m cooking. The vet congratulates me every time I am in there for not having a chunky lab so I feel like I’m doing something right
Coco - half Lab, half German Shepherd - 3.5 yrs old, 31kg, 60cm at the withers. Could do with a bit more muscle.
Quinn turned 2 in December and is considered small for a lab in our area (though she is average height and slightly longer legs than show lab; she is finer featured and not stocky like most we see). Last weigh in was 62 lbs but I think she has put on a few pounds this winter as her average outdoor time is reduced and no swimming til spring. https://imgur.com/gallery/xh8oI
A proper little plum she is in her purple harness and collar Yes, same for me, it's a nice feeling! I must admit that it's largely due to the vet nurses advice, right from 8 weeks of age, they've been quite forceful at times
I will do some measurements when DH gets home. I have learnt that measuring Harls is a 2 person job. Harley is just too helpful to be measured.
Gosh, I should say she's doing well. I note you didn't give the low down on your lovely daughter. She looks spot on too!
Ha Ha, she has inherited some tall and willowy genes from somewhere to counteract the shortish and dumpy one that her dad and I have given her.
Sam weighed 40 kilos at six years old , he was never a small puppy ! He didn't carry fat , just big boned , much muscle and was huge !
Thanks all for the responses. Seems Zeke is pretty normal among forum members dogs, but as I said, a lot of Labs hear where I am on the planet are shorter and much heavier.
Stanley is 22 months and weighs 24.5kg. He looks a lot smaller and more puppyish than a lot of the labs we see.
