In 25 years of having dogs we have never had this before and curious what others have experienced. Last weekend my 1 year old chocolate lab Zeke developed a golf ball size lump on his shoulder blade. Rather sudden. A month ago he had a grape sized lump on his other side which went away. And just before that he had a hystiocytoma on his tail that we did have treated. The lump doesn't seem to be tender. It's not super hard. It's not really squishy. Just a very obvious lump. Over the last few days I have searched for a puncture, didn't find one, and massaged it her and there. Thought about shaving it to see better. Reading all sorts of things it could be.

Went to check it again and it's almost gone. So wondering if my guess is correct.... We have a 3 year old lab also. They run and play and nip each other a bit. Guessing Rex nipped him in the shoulder. It swelled or bled under the skin. After a week it has healed, maybe my massaging it has helped the blood re absorb.

Have a vet appointment tomorrow for the other dog and our cat so will take him along but now there is nothing to show them. So any thoughts?

Just re read many of your other posts on 'lumps'. So appreciative of this site and all the info shared. Thanks so much!

Re thinking lipomas. At first thought they were only found on older dogs.

Could it have been a haematoma (bruised area that has filled with blood)? Might’ve got it while rough playing, a hard knock on the shoulder?

Lumps can be worrying. Hopefully your vet can provide the answers you need. Let us know.

A lipoma is slow growing and doesn' go away.
    Could be a bruise.
Having had one histiocytoma I am sure you aren't going to ignore this.
Hope your vet can reassure you.

Yeah! Just got back from the vet and the lump is a vaccination that hasn't been fully absorbed yet. The Lymes one is probably the culprit. Vet did a needle aspirate to check the fluid in the lump.

The lump became noticeable 2 weeks after vaccination so I didn't connect the dots, and have never had a reaction in any other animals. Also am guessing that it has to do with Zeke's body type. He seems to have looser skin than other dogs we have had. Should be absorbed within the month.

Thank you all for your support. And the reminders to stop the Google until you see the vet.... It might save you some worry.
