biting at clothing

    peanut is now thirteen weeks old,but, as she is getting bigger and stronger she has started leaping up at me and biting clothing,also jumping at furniture more. she is so good in all other ways,but, I have tried paws on floor which she does but then repeats the jumping and biting strong enough to have ripped clothes many times in last few days. she has also caught my arms a few times!!! blood and briuses. any help would be appreciated as I dont want her to do this to visitors.ruthx

    Mollie was just the same at this age. She’s now about to start Advanced training as a guide dog - so there is hope.

    Here is the best advice, I followed it all and it worked. But nothing is an instant fix, all the methods need to be repeated over and over again.

    thankyou for your help I will begin all these ideas and hopefully with effort will see an improvement. bum tucking is also on the increase,will try and calm her as suggested. I am quite hyper so its probably me!!!.I just love playing with her.

    It takes a while for them to learn what it is that we expect of them. Consistency will help. Good luck

    While some people dislike having their dog lick, I much prefer it to biting. And so I have trained my now 14 week puppie to kiss. Whenever he licks I call that kiss, and I give him a treat for kissing. And so when he bites, I day "kiss" and when he switches to kissing he gets a treat. Its harder to get my spouse to understand this. What I often get is getting the dog wildly excited and then wonder why the dog bites, but being unwilling to consistently say Kiss and then treat for it. But kissing works for me.

    I also give them an alternative to mouth on.

    Between now and 4 months(or so) those baby teeth will be pushed out by permanent teeth and this just hurts
