We have a 5 month old black lab puppy. He has been great in every aspect except for the biting. Everyone (including our vet) always says for us to just redirect him to a toy when he bites, but that doesn't always work, it's easier said than done and sometimes it's not even possible. He gets in crazy puppy mode and just bites us. He goes after our hands a bunch, he has gotten a lot better about not going after our feet. Any other advice on how to stop the biting? I know it's normal, but it just seems extreme. He has lost his top and bottom front teeth and new ones have come in.

Our other problem has been over night for the last week. He falls asleep around 9pm. We have him in the crate, but then at around 1 am, he'll want to get out, so we'll see if he needs to go the bathroom, then put him back in and he tries to get out, yelps, etc.... Then we end up letting him out, he doesn't want to go back to sleep. Then my husband has to go out in the living room with him and he eventually falls asleep out there. Or sometimes I can get him to calm down with a bone, either in our bed or in his crate, and then he falls asleep. Some nights though, its worse, and he just wants to bite and won't calm down. It's so frustrating, especially when it's the middle of the night. We haven't slept much for the past week. He gets a walk every day.

He was really good prior to this, he would fall asleep in the crate, sleep through the night, and if he did need to go the bathroom we'd let him out and he would go back in without a fuss and be good the rest of the night. Also, if he slept through the night and woke up at 5:30 or 6 am, we could give him a bone on our bed after being in the crate, and he would be fine.

Any advice would be great!!! When will the biting get better?

Hello and welcome . Yes, the biting will decrease , honestly ! You do right to offer a toy, turn your back and don't react at all , they usually start to improve after 6 - 8 months of age .Is there any way you could maybe keep him up a little longer in the evening , say until around 10.30ish ? Also , as well as a walk , do lots of small training sessions with him as mental agility is not only good for their brains but it tires them out just as much as physical exercise .
