Boyfriend and I were outside for 5 minutes tops setting up the gate in my car. We forgot to put away the 2 cupcakes that were sitting on the counter and when we got back, Aspen had gobbled up the two delicious, frosted, luckily vanilla treats, wrappers and all. I'll be watching him for the next couple hours, but it reminded me of a quote our trainer gave us: "Impossible of deceit, unable to understand the future, the dog lives in the now and expects that we meet him there." He was so proud that he had gotten himself such a tasty snack, and I should have put it away, but didn't think to do so. He sure keeps me on my toes. :D

So true, what a great quote. OH was very miffed the other night when Xena snaffled his roast potatoes when he nipped out of the room. She doesn't counter surf and leaves the dining table alone, but if it's on the coffee table or the arm of the sofa then FAIR GAME. I should do more coffee table training but I was so relieved to have cracked the counter surfing that I've just learnt to not leave food on the coffee table :p

It is easy to forget sometimes. I left a bacon sandwich on the edge of my desk at work and got up to see to someone, they commented on the dog at the desk and I suddenly remembered the sandwich and panicked, but there she was just sitting and watching it, right next to her nose. Oh how things have come along since the sausage roll episode, where the same thing happened and I lost my lunch!

I thought our last Lab was the greediest beast on the planet, yet he never stole food. I don't think we will be so lucky this time round. Pup less greedy but more agile...

I remember one time my niece who was over and had left her her grilled cheese sandwich on the arm of a chair in the living room while going into the kitchen to grab a drink. My dog watched her leave, casually walked over, stepped on the cushion of the chair and ate it within seconds. She came back, looked around and said “hey, who took my lunch?” The dog needless to say, was quite proud of himself and gave her a look like, Who me??? He was such a little sneak, lol. Meh, serves her right , never be so careless with a Lab around, lol
