So apparently planting the feet and refusing to move on a walk is our boys new thing.

No specific location. At least once a walk.

We can be happily trotting along and suddenly he just stops. Nothing gets him moving. A lure will get us a few steps before he stops. Recall words the same.

I have got to the point where I say in the middle of the pavement today and he was completely baffled by my behaviour (as were the 2 passing runners:D)

He swiftly came to me but as soon as I stood up he stopped again. This can last several minutes. Today was about 5/6. ( felt like forever!)

Usually turning back spinning and continuing can get him to move but not all the time. Also crossing the road for example for a few steps them crossing back. But I haven't found a 100% successful tactic.

Any help appreciated. I won't pull him so I will stand until he is bored and walks of his own accord.

Do you have a friend with an adult dog who could walk with you ? Pups tend to copy adult dogs , and take confidence from them , so it could help x

Ripple still does this, but usually only when we're walking with my daughter or her OH - makes no sense to us but I'm sure Ripple has a very important reason for doing it .

Sorry, no help at all .

Red did this last year when she was a young puppy. @Boogie gave me some very good advice - to just stand and let the world go by and then praise and treat as soon as she moved forward. She would sometimes do this several times on a walk. Fortunately it was summer time so I didn’t mind standing and waiting. It seemed to last an eternity but she eventually stopped it.

Thankyou. I've been turning my back and waiting till he gets bored.

He is two. Despite being very puppybrained still.
