Our 19 week old puppy Ella has had UTi since we brought her home at 8 weeks. She has a partially recessed vulva. She also has vaginitis. She is currently on her 6th round of antibiotics. She just had a cystocentesis this past Saturday at the Internal Medicine Vet. We are hoping it shows a different bacteria so a antibiotic change will help her. We wipe her every time she goes potty. She had a green discharge. Poor baby seems so uncomfortable. When we try to go without meds she doesn't pee as much as she should. She is not panting all the time. We were told if we let her go through her first heat it should fix itself. But how can she keep going like this. Everything else seems good. She eats great, coat looks awesome, gaining weight (42 pounds), not indoor accidents. Just don't know what to do for her. We tried cranberry tabs and they did not work. Just wondering if anyone else has had something like this.
    Thank you
    Sheri

I am sorry that your poor little one is going through this and you too . Hoping that the test will show a definite bacteria so that she can get the best antibiotic for the infection , and if not , I would be asking for a second opinion .

We had this with Vanilla. It took a few treatments until it was cleared, during the time of the antibiotics we would always wipe her with a baby wipe. Once it cleared it just needed to be wiped morning and night, then we apply a cream 'neacort'. This is normally just before her walks to allow it to settle. One thing the Vet did say to make it flair up is allergies. Which was true in that during the winter months we had no problem. But during the autumn when it first started and then Spring plenty of issues. In total we had about 5 or 6 UTI's in the first 6 or so months.
She then went through her season during the Christmas period whilst it being nice and hot, so not ideal, as she ended up with other skin issues.
Her vulva did 'pop out', but not as much as expected. We did discuss with the Vet about another season, but they advised that it would not make that much difference. Then it came down to deciding what was best overall, and in the end we decided to not go through a second season.
This last spring, and now summer, no issues from a UTI perspective. But due to allergies she has minor flair ups, which currently are being managed through 'Macralone' and special shampoo on a small dosage. Depending on where the flair up is.

I know it is not easy and not very pleasant for your little girl. I would however recommend to keep on pushing with your Vet (or seek another one), to get the best treatment, then let her go through a season. Our Vet explained, that if we had not done this, we could have ended up with issues for the rest of her life. these would just have made it very uncomfortable overall. We did not want that, so a short term pain for a long term gain. The Vet did plenty off research, as apparently not many people are aware of this 'inverted vulva'

Hope this help and that you don't feel you are the only one.
