I'd have been really furious if it was my OH too, it's a shame it took something so drastic to give him a wake up call. I hope he takes notice of you now and that Stanley is well on the way to a full recovery.
I’m so glad to hear that Stanley is much better this morning. You poor thing, you must have been so worried.
So good to hear that Stanley is feeling so much better this morning. Fingers crossed that all goes well at the vets. Xx
So happy to hear Stanley seems to be coming out of it. A big, fancy bed is the least he (and you) deserve.
Have just read this, how horrifying, and am so glad Stanley is getting better. Your video made me tear up, poor fellow and I understand your feelings against your OH totally, mine is the same, he is really worried if Maisy is poorly or hurt but is so laid back about when we are out on walks, 'just let her go', 'don't worry so much'. Mind you she has never climbed a tree! Only last week we walked a different route and Maisy was sniffing round some tin foil in the bushes. God knows what was in that but I was worried for ages about it. I did actually feel like your OH needs a wack with a saucepan to knock some sense into him but hopefully this is what he needs to be more vigilant - let him pay with his wallet!! Hope all goes well with Stanley x
I wonder if Stanley found a discarded joint on the walk...it happened once before at our old house with our previous dog when our idiot neighbour would smoke pot and throw the used up cigarette in our garden He had the same head twitching and nausea etc, no other obvious cause according to the vet who thought it probably was the marijuana. If so, there were no long term issues, just short term disorientation etc. I'm sorry this happened Hopefully OH will take it to heart and keep a better eye on Stanley. This could happen to anyone but given the previous history of not really paying attention to him, hopefully your OH will be less blase going forward.
I'm so glad the forum's beloved Stanley is on the mend. It's scary isn't it with our labs? Plum is such a scavenger/snaffler. It does sound like it could have been cannabis based on what @SilverFalcon said? The little video of Stanley did look like he was under the influence of something. Please post a pic of him @JenBainbridge in his new bed.
He's been to see the vet. They think the side effects have mainly worn off now and he should be ok. It won't be fully out of his system for a little while (whatever it was) so they said to just keep an eye on him and keep him on light exercise and lots of rest. My poor little baba. I don't think I've ever been as relieved as I feel right now x
So sorry. That video was awful - reminded me of when Snowie did just that, head jerking, looked like poisoning to me but the vet thought he’d had a seizure (he’s epileptic, although I’m sure I would’ve seen it - I was home and he’d been sleeping and then woke up and vomited). He’d eaten human poo earlier in the day and I’m sure there must’ve been drugs in the poo. Whatever it was, he recovered over the course of the day. I know it’s too late now, but would charcoal tablets have helped? I hope you all have a better night tonight. Poor Stanley and poor you!
Happy to read from beginning to end just now and find things seem much improved. REad this just after reading a FB posting from my Vet about a dog rushed in after eating some warfarin on a walk in a popular area. Fortunately that owner found the dog with the rat bait package so the Vet knew for sure what the dog had eaten. Here's to Stanley continuing to improve.
He's pretty much back to normal I think I let him sleep in the bed last night to keep an eye on him and he was bounding round this morning like a mad man. He's going to my mams for the day so he's not on his own and can be kept an eye on x
Thank goodness Stanley is so much bettter, what a relief. I hope he enjoys his visit to the pet shop. Not that it’s an consolation but my OH is exactly the same, he is very rarely allowed out on his own with Mabel. As for Stanley falling out of a tree, I just can’t imagine
