Our 11 month puppy is vomiting. I think it could be the Orijen kibble? It’s a new pack and the first few days she sniffed it and postponed eating until later in the day. Then the vomiting started at lunchtime (after a small kibble breakfast) so for 2 days I gave her boiled rice for lunch. Then today I only gave her about 20 pieces of kibble for breakfast, then the same amount for lunch and dinner. I thought the small amount had helped, but at 10:30 tonight she vomits it all up again! She seems so well in herself and races around the park each morning, but I worry she will waste away.

    Here are my questions!
    1) If it is a reaction to the Orijen, how can I change kibble as it would not be possible to slowly change to a different brand.
    2) Before Xmas she was on Lilys Kitchen Puppy, I changed to Orijen as it’s supposed to be superior but I wonder if it’s too rich for her.

It could be the kibble, as she seems well otherwise, but if she continues to vomit it would be worth taking her to the vet. It’s important to make sure she’s drinking well so that she doesn’t become dehydrated, too. Continue to feed her on boiled rice, with a bit of chicken, then perhaps try introducing the adult version of her previous food to see whether she keeps that down.

I hope she gets over it soon.

I would also go back to the original food if she was fine with it. Don't worry too much about a quick switch of food - if you feed chicken and rice for a few days you can introduce the kibble just as you would a new food, a little at a time over a few days.

A better rated/starred food isn't always the best food for our dogs :)

I am now wondering if it’s the Bravecto flea and tick tablet she took last week. Upon reading the packet, it was a high dose (for 20-40 kg dogs) as she is only 22 kg? But would the side effect last this long?

How soon after the Bravecto did she vomiting start? That she is 22kg shouldn't be an issue as she falls within the tested weight range.

First 2 days she was off her food, then started vomiting on day 3

Thanks for all the suggestions. I’ve given her a small portion of rice for breakfast and ordered some Lilys Kitchen kibble from Amazon (her food before Origen).
Thanks for the forum, it’s so useful when at a loss what to do, I’m first-time pet owner x

Bravecto has long-term effects. So you won’t necessarily see a bad reaction at first. I’m against any oral tick and flea product. There are many people who love the product. But my boy had two seizures within six weeks of taking Bravecto. He is epileptic, but he had been fine for ages before taking this pill. He’s not had a seizure since those two after taking Bravecto - almost a year ago.

Bravecto warns against humans handling it with bare hands, and yet people think it’s okay for a dog to eat it.

If your dog continues to vomit, you need to take her to a vet.

Have a chat with your vet about the vomiting and any possible link with the Bravecto. He should then report it to the manufacturers whether it is the cause or not.
I had a long chat with my vet about Bravecto last year when we were reviewing her treatments and I questioned the incidence of gastro-intestinal problems the most common side effect but still rare. His advice was that if the gastro-intestinal problem didn't occur within 12 hrs, in his opinion, it was unlikely to be connected.

Which is a standard advisory statement to try and stop people sueing them. Having said that similar advisorys are also printed on the spot on treatment I use for my cat, the eye drops I have for Jen, which are actually human eye drops and also appears on her oral painkiller
