So Cassie is 10 days post spay - her recovery has been slower than others that I have had, but by day 6 the light was back in her eyes and she was returning to normal. I decided that today we would go to our companion dog training class, having informed the trainer that she is post op. Of course, having not been out or seen anyone for a couple of weeks she was like a 6 month old, trying to play with other dogs ... it was soooo hard for her . Focus? What focus? Gradually she settled down ... give or take the odd detour when practising recall. It was a cold, bright sunny day... how could she not be full of energy and fun? BUT ...she did do the full minute sit/wait when others fidgeted and broke.. she just looked like " oooh, well look at him"! But the last exercise ..... scentwork, finding treat on one, then two, upturned dishes....found hers, sit...nah, no way, hurtled round scooping up the other dishes, one circuit with one over her face before bringing it to me ...delivering to hand !! The great thing was that everyone, including the trainer, was in stitches with laughter and really no one cared! Once we got home, which took a while, she just seemed to be overflowing with happiness, and I swear has been smiling about it ever since I know I have !
That’s great to hear, it’s so awful when they are not themselves. Sounds like Cassie had a lot of fun too.
