we have a almost 15 month old lab our first puppy. This morning my wife noticed drops of blood on our bed and in the dogs crate blankets. Also on her tail. She didn't see any cuts on the dog. Also our lab is not super swollen but definitely bigger in that area than when she was younger. Is our lab in heat?

    It sounds very likely, yes.

Yep, I'd say she is in season.

Thanks for the responses everyone. One more question. I have heard and we were told by our vet that we should wait 3 months after her first heat to spay her. Is that correct and is that 3 months from the start of the heat or the end of the heat?

My vet advised 14 weeks from the end of her season, then there is a two month window when the hormones are at the least active, during which is the optimum time to spay.

Hi , I was advised to count three months from the start of the season , when you first notice bleeding . The timing of spays is to ensure that hormone levels are nice and level .

Is there anything such as a false heat or half heat? Our lab has been on heat for almost 3 weeks now but bleeding has basically stops week ago and was never bad. Her nipples are still swollen along with her female area but not as big as when the heat first started. Could she go through another heat within a month or two that would be stronger? We had heard this could happen but wasn't sure. It wasn't from a vet so.
