Yesterday we went to York - two and a half hours north driving from here. We went to see my step daughter and her partner for the day. We had the most fab day in York walking around, looking at the shops, walking along the river. It was bitterly cold but the sun shone. We took both dogs and they were brilliant. Had a relaxing lunch in a pub with a roaring fire - dogs settled under the table and not a peep from either of them. Plenty of nice things said about them. Later we went in a lovely cafe for coffee and cake. Dogs just sat and watched us. So many people walked by and commented on them and gave them a stroke. Sky of course is used to all this but I was very proud of Red - at 14 months, her behaviour was exemplary. They had a brill day (as did we), lots of other dogs out for them to say hello to, lots to sniff. It was a long day and a lot of time in the car but good to know we can walk around a city and have the dogs with us :).

Took lots of photos so will post some when we’ve had a chance to sort them.

I know @Boogie. As you know I really thought we had made a terrible mistake and I found early puppyhood so terribly hard. Red has made a fabulous addition to our family.

That’s wonderful to read. I’m so glad that time and patience has paid off - and, of course, lots of training and riding out the earlier storms! :)

Finally a few photos from our day in York. The last one makes me laugh as Red is coming out of a shop doorway - she definitely had to have a little noisy in all the good shops:).

That is great!! My dogs are such country bumpkins God knows what Merlin would be like in the city... Last time we took him to the airport he got overexcited and peed on someone's luggage... o_O
