David took Hattie & Charlie out for a long walk on Sunday whilst I had a Mother's Day lie in :) When he came back he told me how differently Charlie behaves when they are together. They encountered many dogs, a few of which Charlie is unsure of e.g. a Doberman and a few large breeds. They stood and chatted for 5 minutes with a neighbour with his Labrador, they normally bark at each other but Hattie placed herself between the Lab and Charlie, neither of them moved or made a sound just as he didn't with all the other dogs they met just walked past. He didn't react when a Spaniel bounced up to him either.

I think Hattie has such amazing skills and body language that Charlie trusts her and behaves impecably when they are out together :) xxx

That's so lovely. Some dogs are real peace makers. Doug was brilliant at doing it. He just used to stand in between the dogs he thought were being silly or not calm.things would slow and calm. My friends old girl used to do it she was stately with it too. Some dogs just have it, and some just seem to develop as the mature and grow in experience. It must wonderful for Charlie to have such a amazing friend. Xx

.....Coco WAS the calming influence this morning!
We came upon a pair he has met quite a few times, Coco is usually lunging to get to them. Everyone was on-lead. Today we approached on a slack lead! We greeted appropriately. The Spaniel is a bit grumpy and started to bark. This made his companion, a young Golden Retriever, bark too. Coco continued to sniff the Spaniel very gently and rubbed is face along side Splash's face. The barking dogs relaxed and the greeting continued very nicely. We parted company easily. Coco got a nice bit of pork sausage for his effort.
