Hello I just wanted to get some input on this before I take her into the vet later this week. She is a 2 year old chocolate lab just had puppies two weeks ago and is loosing hair on her hips where she lays on them. In our whelping box we have a rubber mat that kids play on I’m wondering if that could be pulling the hair when she lays on it or something more serious. If anyone has had experience with hair loss after giving birth to puppies

No experience regards to havubg just had puppies but could it be the stsrt of pressure sores as its where you say she is lying down all the time? Do you have any other bedding for her apart from the rubber mat? She probably needs something softer to lie on.

Hi and welcome, I agree, the rubber mat doesn't sound very nice. Most people use vet bed or towels that they change and wash daily - but maybe you are doing this anyway, and the rubber mat is underneath? Also, maybe she isn't getting out enough - I know it can be a bit tricky to get the mother to leave her pups when this tiny, but she needs fresh air and a bit of exercise, as well as high-quality food. But I'm sure you know all this!

That’s what I was thinking I’ll put a blanket in there but I was afraid of the puppies suffocating. I didn’t think she was sick she eats allot and stool has been good no weird colors and i touch the spots where she is shedding the hair and she doesn’t care so there is no pain I’ll try the blanket and I added some vitamin to help her coat they sold me at the store
