We bought Maxx a trampoline style bed on the advice from the breeder. He will lie on the bed to have his Kong's or chew on a toy or a nice fresh empty paper towel roll, but when it is time to sleep he hops off and sleeps on the hard floor. Is this doing him any harm? Any thoughts why he leaves his comfortable bed for the floor? It is still quite hot here so that may be a factor.

I suspect it is a temperature thing, if your floor is cool.
Or perhaps like us, some dogs prefer a hard bed to soft one?
There are many dogs who shun there several beds for a hard floor.
Things change over time. Nothing to worry about.

My dog slept on my bed for most of his life, but in his last year he couldn't be convinced to stay up there. He's start out with me, then as soon I was asleep he'd go onto the floor. Like you, I was worried about the floor being too hard. Especially for an older dog, I felt it couldn't be doing him any favours.

So I went out and bought a really nice bed. Even took him to the store with me and let him try out different beds. In the store,he seemed to love it. I proudly took it home and laid it on the floor right next to my bed. Though it made me sad not to have him in bed with me, I even put him on it first without asking him to start in bed with me. He looked so comfy. And when I woke up in the morning, there he was laying on the hard tile floor, a foot away from the beautiful new bed.

So Maxx may want a different style of bed or he may be one who doesn't like any bed at all. I imagine you may be right about the temperature, though. Maybe he'll like his bed better when the weather cools off?

Rory like his bed now but when he was a pup he loved to sleep hard surfaces tiled floor wooden floors. It seemed to be about the heat. He even slept in a stone fireplace on holiday s (it was summer so not used) and at home he sleeps in tile fire place when he gets hot.

Yes I agree about the temps. With the wood stove on and the temps reaching 75, the pup hops off his soft bed and heads for the floor which is cold.
