My 2 yr old black lab had surgery for elbow dysplasia just before Christmas. Is it possible for her to have problems with her elbows again because she won’t let me touch them today? She has also been holding up her front paw like she did before surgery.
Hi there, and welcome to the forum! Sorry to hear tour girl has had problems with her el ows. I'm afraid I don' know the answer to your question, bit I would have thougt surgery would have sorted the immediate problem, although I beliee arthitis cam develop in the joints in the medium to long term. A little early for this though. Has there been a new injury? I am guessing you will be chatting to your vet? There are a few regular contributors on here that have gone through the ED process and o hope they will drop by with their experiences. Jac
Hi @Lizvine, my girl has ED and was operated on at 8 months. What form of ED/surgery have you been through? What has been your recovery management plan? General advice from the surgeon or your vet? Sorry for the questions but there are numerous forms of ED and different trwatments which woukd gave a bearing on recovery. 2 months really isn't a very long time for recovery but if she is in discomfort and holding her paw up I would get her down to the vet for a check up.
Sorry to hear about the op for ED and your worries. My 5 month choc lab was operated on last week. He has/had ununited anconeal process (UAP) in his right paw. We have a minimum recovery of 6 weeks and he will be closely monitored for arthritis. The left paw is next on the agenda after we see how he recovers with his right paw. As suggested by JoJo83, I would go to the vet for a check up for your own piece of mind and to find out why she is holding her front paw. Maybe you have already been to the vet??
