I thought I'd share this little tidbit, maybe give you a chuckle. I don't know about in your house but in mine I'm certainly the caregiver, I was the one who did the majority of baby care and now I do about 90% of puppy care. Last Friday I had to go to work (I sub on Fridays the rest of the week I'm home) so dh was home from 7a-3p with puppy. Sounded like a normal puppy day, had a couple of accidents, chewed things he shouldn't, etc. Saturday dh ran some errands and came home with flowers for me. We've been married nearly 20 years and not once have I gotten flowers 'just because' (holidays, anniversaries, etc; sure but not for no reason). 8 hours caring for the puppy and he decided I needed flowers
Absolutely hilarious lol!!! Love it! My husband was very much of the opinion "Your dog, your responsibility!" Only we get him tomorrow and I have to be at a baby shower on Sunday for 2 hours so he is now resigned to the fact, he will very much provide care AND love! Haha! Even caught him reading up on house training the other day! He knows! Lol
He’s perfect. Fear not, the joy overrides the hard work every time Be sure to have plenty of baby gates to protect your youngest children from those crocapup teeth. But remember, they grow up 100 times quicker than children.
He’s is adorable . Puppies are hard work, but are so worth it. The Happy Puppy book is fantastic and gives some amazing advice. Just remember that they learn quickly and grow up so quick. Take lots of photos as you will soon forget how tiny he was.
On a practical note, if the kids play on the same floor as the puppy, then its best to have a physical barrier between the two. We use a house line on the dog when the toys are out. Otherwise he'll chew on them and swallow them. And puppies love all those kids toys.
Welcome from me and my big boy Pongo! Your boy is beautiful - oh, those EARS! Have fun with him, and remember that whatever problem you might come up against, somebody on this forum has already had it. And there is no such thing as a stupid question. And we love to hear about puppies!!
Loki is so gorgeous. Enjoy him, the good, the bad and the ugly it's all worth it in the end as he will be the best friend you ever have Love his name x
Hello and yay. How exciting for you. Only thing I can add is something I wish I was told sooner. Train him to do what you want, not to do what you don’t. That might not make sense right now but it will soon enough.
Great advice from you all. I'm so happy to have come across this forum, I really am. Feeling so much more relaxed about things already and back to feeling excited. Nice to know that you guys are here and experiencing/experienced the same. Thanks so much xx Editing to say that I bought the Happy Puppy book last night and it arrived today. Amazing read so far a great guide x
You’d be doing yourself another great service but also picking up the book “ Total Recal “ by the same author, and applying those lessons from the minute you get Loki home as well.
Get the Neosporin ready... my new pup chases me all over the place in the morning. She does not like for me to get dressed. LOL My arms and hands look like I have been running through briars.
