Hiya - George is now 1.5 years and generally a VERY calm dog. EXCEPT when it comes to his new dog-walker, who he LOVES, and who picks him up every Tuesday and Friday at 8AM. He has come to anticipate this, I guess because I get up earlier than the other days(?), and starts whining/pacing from about 7:30.

I take him out for a short walk beforehand at 7. And I've tried distracting him training/food, but he remains distracted and just gets more and more excited. Then practically loses his mind when the doorbell rings: whining, barking, jumping, biting at his lead.

So far I've tried asking the dog-walker to text me instead of ringing the doorbell, which only helps a little bit - he still flips out when he realizes he's at the door - and I'd rather fix the root of the problem than avoid it. To clarify, he doesn't do this when the doorbell rings at other times, only in the morning when he (somehow) knows it's his dog-walker.

    Any advice?? Thanks in advance!

I'm no expert but when we had this problem I looked at the video by Victoria Stilwell which is on the thread called alert barking I think. I had one of the children home, she watched it too and we followed her instructions. Much to my amazement it really worked and quite quickly too! Id love to know if it would work in your case.

I don't have any advice but I do want to chime in to say on the positive side it is wonderful you found a dog walker your pup clearly LOVES so much!

It IS adorable - we're worried he's starting to like him more than us!
